Intro to Bema

Church MKE has sponsored discussion groups using the BEMA Discipleship podcast as a primary source/outline.  This podcast has been a source of many insights into Biblical texts and comes up over and over again in our Sunday gatherings.

Our focus over four weeks (with a potential fifth week depending on group interest) will be on the initial episodes and general framework of the Bema Discipleship podcast and in particular the Season One episodes that deal with the initial chapters of Genesis.  We have intentionally made this a low commitment experience over a traditional “semester” type experience, although you should expect a pretty rich discussion each week!  What follows will be determined at the conclusion of this session and will be optional and up to you.

This session will cover the subjects covered in the initial episodes through episode 2.  The numbering at the start of BEMA is somewhat odd, so the specific episodes being covered are:

Participants should listen to all four, but discussion will focus more on Episodes 1 and 2 which get more into the initial chapters of Genesis.

Discussions will be held at Mount Carmel Lutheran Church (8424 W. Center Street, Milwaukee, WI). We will meet in the Cafe space on the main level of the church with the entrance off of 84th Street.  Doors will open a bit before our 3pm start time with the hope that we can get started right at 3.

Bema Milwaukee discussions groups are always open to all – being a part of Church MKE is not required, and neither is being active in another church or identifying as a Christian or not. Just be a nice person who is OK with lots of questions for yourself and others.  Also, we should note that while we are not affiliated with Mount Carmel or their denomination/synod, we are very grateful for their hospitality in allowing us to meet in their lovely building.
